US chicken fast food chain ‘better than KFC’ to open first UK sites as it confirms plans for 900 branches
A US fast food chain that has been branded “better than KFC” will open its first UK sites and has confirmed plans for 900 branches.
Church’s Texas Chicken says it is “setting its sights” on Britain as part of its growth plans.
Church’s currently has 1,400 restaurants across 22 countries, including Qatar and Iraq.
But bosses are now looking to expand further and are targeting 900 locations across the globe.
In a statement the group said the company would look at opening locations in the UK, France, Italy, and Spain
Roland Gonzalez, chief of Church’s Texas Chicken and Texas Chicken, said: “The European QSR market is evolving rapidly, driven by a growing demand for convenience and quick-service restaurant options.
“We see huge potential to bring the Texas Chicken experience to new guests across the continent, and this is just the beginning.”
American diners have raved about the brand’s fried chicken and ‘biscuits’ – a savoury bread served with meals.
Some have even gone as far as to say it taste better than KFC,
Taking to Reddit one impressed customer said: “I gotta say it was the best fast food fried chicken I’ve had in a long time.
“Better than Popeyes and KFC..the biscuits, sides, everything was just way better.”
While another person said: “Church’s is HELLA underrated. Super good food for an affordable price.”
It is one of many US fast food joints ramping up its presence in the UK.
Chick-fil-A opened the first of five restaurants as the start of the year.
The famous fried chicken brand revealed exclusively to The Sun in September that it would launch in Northern Ireland, Leeds, Liverpool, and London.
The chain briefly touched down with a temporary pop-up in Reading back in 2019.
The restaurant opened inside an Applegreen service station in Lisburn, County Antrim, on the Lisburn South motorway.
The petrol station provider already has a partnership with Chick-fil-A restaurants in the US.

Carl’s Jr opened its first site in the UK this month in Cardiff.
The site, which caters for 50 customers at a time, has been launched by the Boparan Restaurant Group.
Meanwhile, damily entertainment and dining centre Chuck E Cheese is reportedly planning to launch six branches across England and Scotland.
