‘Worse than Musk and Trump’: Ex-MSNBC host issues searing takedown of JD Vance
Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan launched a brutal take down of Vice President JD Vance over his insistence that the Trump administration made no mistake in deporting a legally protected immigrant to an infamous mega prison in El Salvador.
Hasan on Thursday took on the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father with protected status who the Trump administration admitted to mistakenly labeling as a gang member before loading him aboard a plane bound for El Salvador – despite his lack of a violent criminal history.
“Are we sending immigrants to foreign labor camps because of traffic violations too now?” Hasan asked on Zeteo, the news group he founded. “You cannot make this s--- up, but JD Vance can.”
The outspoken British broadcaster went on to describe the “brazen dishonesty” he said Vance has continued to double down on after telling a reporter in a social media post that a court document purportedly shows the man was “a convicted MS-13 gang member with no legal right to be here.”
“The vice president of the United States – I know we've become numb to this I know we've normalized this which we shouldn't have – but the vice president of the United States went onto a public media platform and told a journalist a flat falsehood, something flat false, something completely untrue, demonstrably untrue, he lied and said, ‘look at the court document,’” Hasan said.

“It doesn't say he was convicted of any crimes, JD Vance just made it up made it up and put it out there,” he added. “Now does the vice president correct himself next morning? No JD Vance doubles down.”
Hasan continued to lay into Vance as he told viewers: “Think about what kind of human being you have to be that you get caught lying, you double down on the lie, he doesn't admit that he was wrong to say convicted, he says ‘a judge determined this.’”
The former MSNBC host concluded from the episode that Vance, who perpetuated the wildly false claim surrounding migrants eating dogs and cats during the 2024 election, is “in many ways worse than Musk and Trump.”
“Because JD Vance is supposed to be the Yale Law grad, the public intellect of the right, the best-selling memoirist, the man who's married to a woman of color, the man who has humble origins that none of that applies to Musk and Trump to be fair,” Hasan said.
"Trump could always have the excuse that 'I lied because I'm insane.' What's JD Vance's excuse?"
