The teams split the first two games of the series, with Syracuse coming away with a 5-1 victory on Wednesday. Today’s game will be broadcast on SNY.

Blade Tidwell began his season on a high note, allowing just one run, one hit, and one walk with five strikeouts in five innings against Worcester on Opening Day. Tidwell carved up his competition in Double-A in 2024 but struggled badly in Syracuse, posting a 5.93 ERA with an unsightly 53 walks and allowing 17 homers in 85 innings.
Opposing Lineup
- Ismael Munguia, CF
- Jorbit Vivas, 2B
- T.J. Rumfield, 1B
- Everson Pereira, LF
- Dominic Smith, DH
- Jose Rojas, RF
- Ronaldo Hernández, C

- Andrew Velazquez, 3B
Brandon Leibrandt dodged traffic in his first start of the year, allowing four hits and four walks but striking out five while holding Lehigh Valley to just one run over four innings. The lefty made two appearances with the Reds in 2024, allowing seven earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. Former Met Dominic Smith recently re-signed with the Yankees after he failed to break camp despite recording an .857 OPS in spring training.
Game Notes
- Dom Hamel was excellent on Wednesday, holding the Railriders to just two singles over five shutout innings. Much like Tidwell, Hamel struggled in Triple-A in 2024, posting a 6.79 ERA across 124 2/3 innings.
- Brandon Sproat will make his second start of the year on Saturday. The right-hander endured a tough outing to begin his season, allowing four earned runs, three hits, and three walks over two innings against Worcester.
- Joey Meneses is off to a rollicking start to the season, going 7-for-16 with a league-leading five doubles. The 32-year-old was a revelation for the Nationals in 2022, recording a .930 OPS with 13 homers in 240 plate appearances, but he struggled to replicate those numbers and was non-tendered after the 2024 season.
