ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Happy Thursday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says temperatures will rise throughout the day, reaching almost 70 in parts of the Capital Region; but there is rain in the forecast.
Schenectady police are investigating the death of two people after bodies were found during a welfare check. Also, a malnourished bear cub was rescued on Hunter Mountain. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this April 3.
1. Schenectady police probe deaths of two in welfare check
Police were called around 3:45 p.m. to the 1000-block of Davis Terrace for a welfare check. Police found two deceased people at the scene.
2. Trump announces sweeping ‘reciprocal’ tariffs | NEWS10 ABC
President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday a 10% baseline tax on imports from all countries and higher tariff rates on dozens of nations that run trade surpluses with the United States, threatening to upend much of the architecture of the global economy and trigger broader trade wars.
3. Report details financial, management issues at Albany Airport Authority
In a report obtained by NEWS10, an accounting firm detailed several financial and management issues at the Albany County Airport Authority it said occurred during the tenure of former CEO Phil Calderone.
4. Troy Fire Department cuts ambulance hours due to lack of funding
The Troy Firefighters IAFF Local 86 has reduced the hours of one of its 24-hour ambulances, the department announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday. Due to reported financial issues, the Medic 3 unit will now only operate for 12 hours.
5. Malnourished bear cub rescued from Hunter Mountain
Bears across New York are coming out of hibernation. But one bear didn’t get much sleep during the winter months and is getting nursed back to health at the state’s only certified rehabilitation center.
