US-24 to close in Manhattan for roundabout projects
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced that part of US-24 in Manhattan will close for two roundabout projects next week.
KDOT said closure is part of roundabout projects at the K-113 and K-13 junctions. The highway will be closed between those junctions starting on Monday, April 7 and will be closed until December, weather permitting.
KDOT said local access to properties along the closure area will be accessible at the US-24, K-113 junction. The access point will change at some point this summer; KDOT said it will give notice ahead of the access point switch.
Access to and from South Dam Road will remain open. The median crossing at Bent Tree Drive will also reopen for left-turning movements from U.S. 24, according to KDOT.
KDOT will be constructing a shoo-fly detour at US-24 and K-113 to take traffic around the work area. Traffic will be restricted to 15mph for eastbound traffic turning onto K-113. KDOT said work zones will be reduced to a 25mph speed limit.
