Ange Postecoglou confirms huge Tottenham injury blow ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt clash
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Tottenham’s latest injury blow, revealing that one of his key players will not be ready to face Eintracht Frankfurt next week in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal.
Tottenham have received some good news after the international break as Lucas Bergvall has been passed fit for the clash against Chelsea despite missing Sweden’s friendlies.
Meanwhile, Richarlison is thought to be on the verge of returning, although this evening’s London Derby is expected to come too soon for the Brazilian.
Radu Dragusin remains sidelined with an ACL injury, and it has also been confirmed that Kevin Danso is still two weeks away from a return.
Ange Postecoglou confirms Dejan Kulusevski injury blow
Kulusevski has sent hints on social media about a potential return, and while the Swede had been ruled out of the clash against Chelsea, Spurs fans would have hoped that he would be back for the first leg against Frankfurt.
However, Postecoglou has now confirmed that the 24-year-old will not feature in the home leg against the Bundesliga side next Thursday but revealed that he has a chance to play a part in the return leg in Germany.
When asked if Kulusevski could feature against Frankfurt, the Tottenham boss responded (via Football.London): “Not the first leg. I’m sure he’ll be pushing for the second leg but… he’s out of the boot that was the first hurdle.
“Now he’s out there training. It’s just gonna be about how he progresses. We’re talking a couple of weeks so definitely not the first leg. A chance for the second.”
Two more Tottenham players at risk of missing second leg against Frankfurt
While Postecoglou will keep a close watch on Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso’s injury rehabilitation, he might also have half an eye on potential suspensions, with some of his players walking a disciplinary tightrope at the moment.
Lucas Bergvall, Yves Bissouma, and Kulusevski are one yellow card away from being suspended in the Europa League, and while the Swede is set to miss the first leg, the other two might have to be a bit careful if they start next Thursday.
