TV star QUITS show after 30 years in heartfelt message to viewers – despite bosses making her a ‘really lovely offer’
A BELOVED TV anchor who became a staple on a flagship news show has revealed her shocking decision to move on.
Deborah Norville, has served as host of Inside Edition since 1995, but decided it was time to pursue other ventures.
She announced in a heartfelt message on Wednesday that staying at the show would not “permit” the new things she wants to try and would be leaving at the end of the season.
“It has been such an honor and privilege to be here at Inside Edition for all these years,” Deborah began her video message posted to the Inside Edition YouTube channel.
“A milestone like this is a time for reflection, and on reflection, I have decided that now is the time to move on from Inside Edition.”
Deborah added: “They made me a lovely offer to stay, but there are things I’d like to do and places I want to do them that continuing here doesn’t permit.”
“So, at the end of the season, I’ll be moving on. I’ve got some exciting things in the works, which I’ll talk about later, but what I want to say now is what a privilege it’s been to lead Inside Edition for all these years.”
She concluded: “To work with the incredibly talented team here, and to be invited into your homes every day, it’s an honor I don’t take lightly.”
Deborah joined Inside Edition from CBS News on March 6, 1995 and before that served as co-host of Today on NBC.
Her next adventure will be to host CBS Media Ventures’ new syndicated game show The Perfect Line starting in the fall.
The Perfect Line will be “a new, visual take on trivia,” according to a report in Deadline.
Inside Edition executive producer, Charles Lachman, thanked Deborah for her hard work.
“Deborah’s powerful presence, both on-screen and behind-the-scenes, has contributed immensely to the success of Inside Edition for the past 30 years,” he said.
“She has made a lasting impact on the show, and I’m excited to follow along as she builds upon her outstanding broadcast legacy in her next chapter.”
Fans reacted to her announcement in the comments section of the YouTube post.
“Wow, I looked her up, and she has been hosting IE for 30 years, and, also, she’s 66, which I NEVER would have guessed!” wrote one person.
Another added: “Her voice literally is the cover of inside edition hopefully they find someone similar.”
