Barack Obama photobombs mum’s photograph of her children
It’s not every day you get a picture of a former US president – and even less likely you’ll be photobombed by one.
But one mum taking pictures of her two children under a cherry blossom tree suddenly realised her snaps featured Barack Obama walking in the background.
Portia Moore was with her husband Damien and their two children, Preston and Belle, taking family snaps in the tidal basin of Washington DC.
Damien tried to get her attention, but Portia was ‘focused on Preston not running towards the water’ so didn’t hear what he said until she picked up her son and returned to him.
He said ‘that was President Obama who just walked by’, and in shock Portia asked their photographer, Briana Inell, if she’d managed to capture the moment a former US president walked past her children.
‘She scrolls through and BOOM there is it! The perfect shot,’ Portia said when sharing the snap on Instagram.
‘This story is one to remember and the picture is a family heirloom (literally).
‘And nope, we did not bother him on his much needed peaceful stroll.
‘We were featured on the news today. Such an epic core memory formed for our entire family.’
Mr Obama has since seen the pictures and apologised to the family for photobombing their pictures.
He shared his own snap of the cherry blossoms earlier the same day with the caption: ‘It’s fun to be able to play tourist once in a while. The cherry blossoms were beautiful this morning!’
Mr Obama shared the picture on his Instagram Story, saying: ‘Preston and Belle, I hope you enjoyed peak bloom! My bad for stepping into the shot.’
Speaking to NBC4, Portia called the picture ‘priceless’ and said she planned to use it on the family’s Christmas cards later this year.
Photographer Briana added: ‘Usually I’m editing all of the tourists out of the backgrounds for all my clients anyways, but this is the one photo that I won’t be editing out this person.’
