'We won!' Newly-elected WI judge takes victory lap as she jabs 'richest man in the world'
Progressive judge Susan Crawford took a victory lap Tuesday night after being projected the winner of the hotly contested Wisconsin Supreme Court race that made her a political target for tech billionaire Elon Musk.
“I’ve got to tell you, as a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I’d be taking on the richest man in the world,” she said to laughter and applause from the crowd. “…for justice in Wisconsin. And we won!”
Crawford delivered an address to supporters in Madison, Wisconsin, moments after she was projected to have won the race that became the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history.

Groups affiliated with Musk pumped more than $21 million into her Republican opponent’s campaign as part of the DOGE head’s effort to elect a far-right judge.
His America PAC and other affiliated groups have funded extensive canvassing efforts and offered money to potential voters, such as $100 for signing petitions against "activist judges" and $1 million awards to some supporters.
Crawford's election will likely tilt how the high court rules on issues like abortion access and congressional redistricting, which is why the race attracted national attention and high-level endorsements, including from Musk and President Donald Trump.
