Highway work may slow traffic in Shawnee County this week
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Workers will be restricting traffic on some local highways in Shawnee County this week to install rumble strips.
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced on April 1 that work crews will be installing rumble strips on some local highways starting on April 2 in Shawnee County. Drivers are encouraged to keep a lookout for workers on the road while this project is ongoing.
- 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 - eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 from Country Side Road to Northwest Menoken Road. The two-laned area of U.S. 24 will be taken down to one lane with flaggers guiding traffic while work is underway. The multi-lane divided area will have a lane reduction where crews are working.
- Wednesday afternoon or Thursday, April 3 - northbound and southbound U.S. 75 in the area of Northwest 46th Street. A lane reduction will be in place while crews are present in the area.
- Afternoon on Thursday, April 3 or Friday, April 4 - northbound U.S. 75 from Northwest 62nd Street in Shawnee County to 158th Road in Jackson County. A lane reduction will be in place where crews are working on the road. Work may be extended in Saturday, April 5 as needed.
