Avoyelles Parish deputies capture fugitive wanted for attempted murder
MARKSVILLE, La. (WNTZ) — A man wanted for attempted murder in Rapides Parish has been arrested following a traffic stop in Marksville, the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office announced.
APSO’s Criminal Patrol Unit encountered a black 2004 Suzuki motorcycle at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday in the area of East Chestnut Street. Deputies had been actively searching for a motorcycle matching that description due to previous instances of fleeing from law enforcement during traffic stops.
Upon investigation, deputies determined the motorcycle was displaying a switched license plate and conducted a traffic stop without incident. The driver, identified as Cody Lee Bordelon of Moreauville, was confirmed to be a wanted fugitive out of Rapides Parish.
Authorities said Bordelon had been evading arrest since Aug. 21, 2023, when a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Bordelon was taken into custody without incident and booked into Avoyelles Parish Detention Center #1 on the fugitive warrant along with multiple traffic violations.
Bond details were not released.
