Find free food, low-cost housing and financial assistance with online tool
NEW YORK (PIX11) – One online tool is making it easier for New Yorkers to find a range of free and low-cost resources to help with food, housing, medical care, transportation and more.
The website FindHelp directs users to type in their zip code to find a consolidated list of programs in their area that can help with any number of needs. It’s described as being meant to “simplify the complicated process of connecting people to help.’
Local programs are divided into the categories of food, housing, goods, transit, health, money, care, education, work and legal.
Users can explore within each category to find programs that help with emergency food and clothes, paying for housing or transit, finding health care or care for a loved one, or finding guidance for education, work or legal needs.
Through FindHelp, New Yorkers can also find “next steps” for how to connect with organizations.
FindHelp operates throughout the state, including Long Island and Westchester.
