India Starts for Royals Just 24 Hours After Taking a 99 mph Pitch to the Face
The Royals have just released their starting lineup for the first game of the Milwaukee series. Jonathan India, who left the game yesterday in the 9th inning after being hit in the face by a 99 mph cutter, is starting at third base for the Royals.
India was taken out yesterday when Emmanuel Clase hit him in the head with a pitch. The sound of contact when the ball struck India was terrifying. The entire stadium, in unison, shouted "Ooo," which was quickly followed by silence as India dropped to a knee.
With his hand over his jaw, India quickly got up and started making his way to the Royals' dugout. On his way there, he couldn’t help but let out a yell in frustration.
Hours after the game, an update was provided stating that India's injury appeared to be non-concussive, but further tests were needed.
Now, less than 24 hours after that pitch, India is in the starting lineup for the Royals.
India dodged a massive bullet with the outcome of his injury.
This just shows the type of player India is. A player who got struck with a pitch closing in on 100 mph and then decided to get back up to the plate the following day is a player I’d want on my team.
I am officially on board the India train.
