Man gets 20 years for 2022 manslaughter shooting in Jennings
JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) -- District Attorney Lauren Heinen announced today that Tregan Kenneth Citizen was sentenced on March 26, to serve 20 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence for the manslaughter of Manuel Jacoby Provost.
On November 21, 2024, the District Attorney’s Office successfully secured a conviction when a
Jefferson Davis Parish Jury found Citizen guilty of manslaughter, for the shooting death of Provost on June 24, 2022, on South Main Street in Jennings.
The conviction came after Citizen was arrested and tried for second-degree murder, with the jury returning the responsive verdict of manslaughter, ensuring that Citizen would be held accountable for his violent actions.
During the trial, the jury was presented with evidence from Jennings police officials
that showed an altercation occurred between Citizen and Provost, during which Citizen shot Provost multiple times. Video evidence from the location where the shooting took place was presented to the jury, which showed the actual shooting and helped witnesses identify Citizen as the shooter.
