Man ‘rushes into Matalan store for help after daylight stabbing’
A teenager ‘ran into a Matalan store for help’ after being stabbed at a retail park.
Police and paramedics were called to Alexandra Retail Park in Oldham, Greater Manchester, at 3.35pm to reports of a knife attack.
The 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, said police.
Emergency services remained at the retail park, which was cordoned off, reports Manchester Evening News.
Forensics teams arrived soon after and were scouring the area, it said.
The victim is thought to have rushed into Matalan after being attacked.
Clothes could later be seen on the ground in the doorway of shop.
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘An investigation is underway after a 19-year-old man was stabbed at Alexandra Road retail park at 3.25pm this afternoon.
‘The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and he and his family are being supported.
‘A scene remains in place at the retail park and some of the surrounding areas, with a large police presence as we continue to piece together the events and collect evidence.’
A resident who lives nearby, Bill Brown, 80, told the Evening News he saw ’10 or 11′ police cars and a couple of ambulances.
He added: ‘Police officers were searching all the way down Park Road, on the pavement and grass verges then taped another bit off. I don’t know what they were looking for, maybe the weapon.’
