What to expect in April around the Pacific Northwest
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- April is just days away and that typically means drier and warmer weather begins moving into the Pacific Northwest.
April showers bring May flowers. That's what's expected for the first few days of the new month. However, a slight drying trend typically starts to take shape across the Pacific Northwest in April. April is typically the seventh wettest month of the year. Portland normally sees close to 2.89" of rain during the fourth month of the year.
With slightly drier skies also comes slightly warmer temperatures. Normal afternoon highs will warm into the low to mid-60s in April. Overnight lows also warm back into the mid-40s as the growing season starts to ramp up across western Oregon and southwest Washington.
Normal temperatures are expected to warm nearly five to 10 degrees over the next four weeks. The normal temperature trend is expected to follow the normal trend as the Climate Prediction Center gives Portland and much of the Pacific Northwest an equal opportunity to see normal temperatures.
Despite the near-normal temperatures expected in April, moisture is expected to remain abundant. Slightly wetter than normal conditions are anticipated over the next four weeks around Portland.
