Crews knock down NE Portland warehouse fire started by pile of clothes
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A two-alarm fire in a large Northeast Portland warehouse prompted response from emergency crews early Sunday morning.
At around 3 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to the area of Northeast Airport Way and 162nd on reports of the warehouse on fire.
When they arrived on scene, they found large amounts of smoke and upgraded the fire to second-alarm.
Gresham Fire Department crews then responded and aided in the knockdown, opening up large doors to help ventilate the warehouse.
The fire was brought under control within the hour, authorities said.
Officials said they found a pile of clothes in the warehouse had caught fire, causing smoke to flood the space. But the cause of that fire has not been released at this time.
