Phillies’ Realmuto and Turner could return from injuries for the team’s home opener on Monday
WASHINGTON (AP) — Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Trea Turner were out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Washington Nationals, though manager Rob Thomson said both could be available for the team’s home opener Monday against Colorado.
Realmuto suffered a bruised foot when he fouled a ball off himself Saturday. Turner sat out Saturday with a back spasm.
“J.T.’s still sore, but it’s more precaution than anything,” Thomson said. “We’ll work on him during the game today. We could play if anything happened to (Rafael) Marchán. Kind of the same thing with Trea. We’re shooting for those guys for tomorrow.”
Thomson said Turner received treatment Sunday morning. The shortstop told reporters Saturday that his back felt tight after Thursday’s season opener and then worse while taking grounders before Saturday’s game.
