Guardians News and Notes: All Eyes on José's Wrist
News and Notes for Sunday, March 30th, 2025
The Guardians lost 4-3 to the Royals yesterday, and Zach has your recap here, but the more important question is whether or not they lost their best player, and, if so, for how long.
Jose Ramirez sprained his right wrist on an awkward slide. Now, José's wrists are absolutely crucial to his game. So, while Manager Stephen Vogt said the strain was mild and he checked out well with the doctors, I have to say I will personally feel relieved if Jose gets some time off. In 2022, Ramirez had a 189 wRC+ before he tore a ligament in his thumb. The team allowed him to play with it and he had a 114 wRC+ the rest of the year (miraculous in itself). Let’s let him rest and get right.
Yesterday was rough. Bullpen losses are the worst and we are all concerned about Jose. However, Tanner Bibee starts today with a chance to help the Guardians win a series at 2:10PM EDT, as a reminder that baseball always gives us a chance to forget yesterday with a new game today.
Around MLB:
The Twins, Tigers and White Sox lost. The Dodgers are somehow 5-0. What a plucky underdog.
The Yankees are smacking a record number of home runs and have different bats with denser wood around the barrel. I'm sure all MLB teams will follow suite if this result holds.
