Europe’s highest rooftop bar is in the UK and is like ‘stepping into another world’
IF you’re wanting a drink with a view, you’re going to want to head to a hotel in London.
GŎNG in the Shangri-La building is on the 52nd floor.
Not only is it the tallest in London, but it is thought to be the tallest in Europe as well.
The name comes from the word ‘dougong’s which is Chinese structure made from wooden brackets, similar in the bar’s designs.
Inside are both a cocktail bar and the Champagne bar.
It is free to visit so is one of the best places to get a view of the city skyline.
You don’t even need to be staying at the hotel to visit, where rooms can start from as much as £500 a night.
However, cocktails are on the pricier side, with them ranging from £26 to £40.
Their newest menu, A Decade of Moments, has themed cocktails based on UK icons such as David Bowie and Queen Elizabeth.
Just don’t bring the kids after 5:30pm as guests need to be over the age of 18.
And if you get hungry there is also the sushi menu serving light bites as well.
People on Tripadvisor have raved about the bar too.
One person wrote: “The views are absolutely breathtaking we’ve been lucky enough to visit quite a few sky bars around the world and this one was absolutely breath taking.”
Another said: “The views were out of this world and the atmosphere was a close match.”
A third agreed: “Almost stepping into another world for an hour for an extravagant and unique cocktail.”
Also on floor 52 is the Sky Pool, the tallest infinity pool in Europe.
Non-hotel guests will have to pay £125 to use it but it also comes with spa access and £50 credit for the restaurant.
The hotel and bar are in The Shard, the highest building in London, measuring more than 1000ft tall.
Having opened in 2012, tourists can also head to the observation deck on the 72nd floor for amazing views although it costs to go up.
The tallest building in the world, however, is the Burj Khalifa Tower measuring 2,717ft.
