Lafayette parish voters said NO to both property tax renewals
LAFAYETTE PARISH,La. (KLFY) -- Lafayette Parish voters did not pass two property tax renewals for this Saturday's election.
The first tax renewal was a millage that would have been 4.47 mills for road and bridge maintenance. According to the voters portal, 61% of voters voted no.
The second renewal was a millage that would have been 3.18 mills for public health services. That covers mosquito control, animal shelters, drainage, fire protection, health units, coroner services and roads and bridges. The tax renewal did not pass the vote with 52%.
Given that these tax renewals were not passed, the parish of Lafayette would have to find another way to fund these parish services without these extra mileages.
