One dead in Central Topeka crash
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Police say one person is dead following a crash near Washburn University on Saturday.
Kerry Connell with the Topeka Police Department said in a press release that officers were called around 3 p.m. on March 29 to the intersection of Southwest 21st Street and Southwest College Avenue on reports of a two-vehicle crash. One person at the scene was taken to a local hospital and declared dead.
Connell said police are investigating the crash and is asking drivers to avoid the area of Southwest 21st Street from Southwest Washburn Avenue to Southwest Jewell Avenue for the time being. Police have yet to identify the person who died due to the crash. No other injuries were reported in connection to the incident.
