Patriots Insider Drops Interesting Intel On Polarizing Draft Prospect
Will Campbell was believed to be the best offensive lineman in the 2025 NFL Draft class, but New England Patriots fans still have their fears about the LSU product.
Campbell’s arm length dominated the conversation leading up to the draft. The 21-year-old reportedly measured 33-inch arms with a 77 2/8-inch wingspan at LSU’s Pro Day on Wednesday. The top prospect previously had measurements of 32 5/8-inch arms and a 77 3/8-inch wingspan at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.
There are multiple question marks the Patriots will need answered regarding whether or not a perceived shorter wingspan can translate to the NFL. ESPN’s Jordan Reid reported that Campbell already had his top-30 visit with New England, and NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry offered more intel on the tackle prospect.
“… I can tell you, he has fans in the building,” Perry said on the “Next Pats” podcast Wednesday. “The demeanor, the character, the interview, process, he has really knocked it out of the park when it comes to making an impression on folks prior to the draft.”
Campbell sounded off on his doubters and believed his tape spoke for itself. The Patriots reportedly do not see a problem with the offensive lineman’s physical profile.
Does that mean New England is locked in on Campbell? Some NFL insiders believe the Patriots have to draft him due to the need at the position. However, draft analysts had Vrabel’s side selecting Travis Hunter with the fourth overall pick.
The context of how the top of the draft plays out will impact New England’s decision at No. 4, but the Campbell train isn’t shut down despite the narrative around him.
