Hollywood legend turns down seven-figure deal to appear on Celebrity Big Brother as she struggles with eye problem
HOLLYWOOD veteran Goldie Hawn has turned down an offer of up to £1million to appear on Celebrity Big Brother.
The Death Becomes Her actress, 79, was in advanced talks to sign up for the ITV1 reality show, which starts a week tomorrow.
However Goldie, who struggled with an eye condition at last month’s Oscars, decided the time was not right, despite the big-money offer.
A source said: “Goldie would have been a massive coup for Celebrity Big Brother.
“She is a Hollywood legend so would have had plenty of tales to spill on the rich and famous.
“Bosses were hoping to replicate the success of Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh who were a hit on last year’s series thanks to their lack of filter and celebrity gossip.
“Goldie was flattered by the offer, which was massive, as much as £1million, but she decided now wasn’t the right time for her.”
Goldie was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in 1980 comedy Private Benjamin.
At last month’s ceremony, Goldie struggled to read as she presented an award, saying: “I’m completely blind.”
The star, who has been in a relationship with actor Kurt Russell for 43 years, later revealed she had cataracts.
Corrie actor Jack P. Shepherd, 37 and pop star Chesney Hawkes, 53, are among those set to enter the CBB house.
ITV declined to comment.
