Back-To-Back-To-Back?! Yankees Embarass Nestor Cortes In Bronx Return
Nestor Cortes returned to the Bronx as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers, and he probably wished for a redo of his New York Yankees reunion.
The left-hander gave up three home runs in the first three pitches at Yankee Stadium. Yes, you read that right. Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge went yard in the first pitch they each saw to start off Saturday’s matchup.

The Yankees’ home run derby continued when Austin Wells hit a home run to put New York up 4-0 after the first inning.
Fans on social media were awed by the display of power from the Yankees — Judge’s homer traveled 468 feet — and also were happy to clown Cortes. Of course, memories of Freddie Freeman’s iconic home run in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series were brought back. That also came on the first pitch Cortes threw. Was there still resentment from the southpaw’s ex-Yankees teammates?
That’s all left up to speculation, but it might be safe to say that New York made the right decision to let Cortes walk and that the new beard the All-Star pitcher grew didn’t do him any favors against his old team.
