Drivers face 90-minute delays on M6 near Birmingham after lorry crash
Drivers have been caught in a monster queue on the M6 in the West Midlands after a lorry crash and spillage closed the motorway.
Today’s getaway traffic came to a standstill on the M6 outside Walsall after a lorry smashed through the central reservation.
The motorway was closed northbound between junction J10 (Wolverhampton) and J10A (M54) after the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened shortly before 9am.
Motorists were caught within a road closure until they were released.
The northbound carriageway was reopened at 2pm following repairs to the central barrier and road surface after spillage.
However, the area still has severe delays of 90 minutes northbound between J8 and J10, National Highways warned.
Meanwhile, the M54 closed nearby after a crash involving two vehicles.
One of the cars rolled over on its roof following the collision eastbound between J1 (Featherstone) and M6 shortly after midday.
The road has fully reopened since, National Highways said.
A stretch of the M54 will be closed this weekend for planned carriageway repair work eastbound between J4 and J2.
This part of the motorway will remain closed until 6am on Monday, March 31, with diversions in place.
We approached the emergency services for a comment.
