To the editor: Economic impact of domestic violence costs Ohio over $1 billion annually
The waiting list at Bethany House, a transitional long-term shelter for survivors of domestic violence in Toledo, is the longest it’s been in the 12 years I’ve served as the shelter’s executive director. Demand rose with the coronavirus pandemic, and has stayed high ever since. Throughout Ohio, 1 in 2 victims are turned away from shelters because of lack of capacity.
