'Will be implemented strictly': For 1st time, Varanasi to close meat and fish shops during Navratri from Sunday
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation will close meat, fish, and poultry shops during Chaitra Navratri, which begins Sunday. Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari emphasized respecting the tradition and ensuring compliance, despite Eid coinciding. The executive committee also banned cigarette sales near religious sites and schools, and approved licensing for cigarette vendors.
