Gray Looking To Cement Top Six Spot
David Gray has his eyes firmly set on cementing a top six spot as we face St Johnstone this weekend.
Three points against the Saints would confirm Hibs in the top six for the post-split fixtures – a target Gray has had since the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
When speaking ahead of this one, our Head Coach explained how crucial the next three games are.
“The earlier you can cement that top six place the better – a win tomorrow would certainly do that and guarantee that.
“It’s about getting as many points as quickly as we can to finish as high as we can this season.
“It’ll be a really difficult game. Our mindset has shifted now because it was all about chasing the team in front before.
“St Johnstone need to win this game and will be fighting for their lives. We know it’ll be a difficult game. Both teams have everything to play for and every game will be like that from now until the end of the season because the league is so tight, and everyone has so much to play for.
“It’s a good opportunity for us at home to get three points, which is the focus.”
Despite a number of players being away on international duty, Gray used the break to put a lot of hard work into his players. He gave his thoughts on the last two weeks.
“The break came at a good time for some players because we’d played a lot of games, and it was a gruelling schedule.
“We’ve obviously had international boys go away. From my point of view, of course, I’d rather keep the group together, to avoid any potential injuries, but the break has been good.
“We managed to get some freshness into some of the boys, and the boys that maybe needed minutes played in a bounce game here. All the boys that went away got minutes too, apart from Nectar. Everyone has come back safely.
“We’re on a good run; we want to keep that momentum going. We want to push on from now until the end of the season.”
