Boy killed, 2 in custody related to high-speed pursuit that ends with crash near LAX
A boy was killed and two other people were taken into custody early Friday morning, March 28, related to a high-speed police pursuit that ended with a crash near Los Angeles International Airport.
The chase began around 1:30 a.m. when Los Angeles police officers attempted to stop a suspected drunken driver in a red Kia SUV near Hoover Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Officer Charles Miller said, with the driver refusing to stop.
Officers followed west on Century Boulevard toward the airport before the SUV crashed into a blue Honda sedan at Sepulveda and Century boulevards.
Two SUV occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended and taken into custody, police said.
The boy, in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. An occupant in the Honda was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
