US Marshals arrest 4th suspect in Austin homicide nearly a year later
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A man was arrested earlier this week and charged in connection with a murder that happened in north Austin nearly a year ago.
This marked the fourth arrest made in the investigation, according to a press release from United States Marshals.
Darwin “Condon” Samir Salinas-Martinez, 28, was a suspect wanted by the Austin Police Department for a homicide that happened on April 28, 2024, in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive, according to the release. Lowen Alberto Ordonez Lobo, 39, was shot and killed in that incident.
Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force were called to assist APD in apprehending Salinas-Martinez after APD obtained an arrest warrant for him on March 26.
The press release said that an affidavit filed by police stated Salinas-Martinez was "alleged to have coached, encouraged, and provided the murder weapon to the shooter."
The task force found information indicating Salinas-Martinez was living at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Airport Boulevard in Austin, where he was arrested on Wednesday after a brief barricade, the release said.
Salinas-Martinez was transferred to APD and booked into the Travis County Jail, where he will await further judicial proceedings.
The release said that according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Salinas-Martinez is an undocumented immigrant from Honduras with no legal status in the United States and was sought on a warrant of removal.
The other suspects who were arrested in the case were Jairo Enrique Velasquez Lopez, 23, Julio Geovany Zelaya Perdomo, 21, and Nixon Onthoniel Marquez-Martinez, 33, according to U.S. Marshals. They are all also Honduran nationals, the release noted.
