More wind, rain for Portland area Friday
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Gusty winds and wet weather continue to find their way into the Pacific Northwest on Friday as temperatures remain cool.
The mostly cloudy, wet and windy weather will keep Portland area temperatures slightly below average for the end of March. Expect much of the rain throughout the morning time with a drier afternoon setting up.
Today's highs will bump back into the mid-50s only, with the rain and breezy winds making it feel chilly. Gusts could near almost 30 mph around the Willamette Valley on Friday.
Rain accumulation will be at its greatest along the coast. Nearly an inch to an inch and a half is possible for the Oregon and southwest Washington coast on Friday. Lesser rain amounts are expected along the Willamette Valley only a half inch expected.
Snow elevation levels will fall to nearly 3,000' by Saturday, but that comes with a slight drying trend for the Pacific Northwest. Additional snow accumulation will be near 6-8" at and above 6,000 feet. Enjoy a great weekend for skiing on Mt. Hood this weekend!
A slightly warmer Sunday is expected around Portland with highs climbing into the low 60s. A mostly dry start to Sunday will turn rainy by the early evening hours.
Scattered rain showers are expected to remain around the Portland, Vancouver area for much of next week. That comes with slightly cooler-than-average temperatures to round out the month of March.
