Mathys Tel apologises to Tottenham fans for making an innocent mistake
Mathys Tel’s latest social media post did not go down with a lot of Tottenham fans, with the forward deleting the post and apologising to the supporters after making an innocent mistake.
The French forward has yet to show too many glimpses of his quality in a Tottenham shirt since arriving on loan from Bayern Munich in January, with the youngster still settling into life at Spurs and in the Premier League.
Reports indicate that Tel has won over the coaches at Hotspur Way with his attitude, with the Spurs decision-makers thought to see a lot of potential in the teenager.
However, the 19-year-old is yet to win over the Tottenham fans and his latest social media post will do little to endear him to the Lilywhite faithful.
Mathys Tel deletes social media post about Tottenham enemy
Tel took to Instagram to post a picture of himself wearing the shirt of former Chelsea winger Willian, which needless to say, was not appreciated by Spurs fans.
Not only are the Blues one of Tottenham’s fiercest rivals, but Willian humiliated the North London club by deciding to join Chelsea after passing a medical at Hotspur Way.
Predictably, Spurs fans commented on the post, letting Tel know of what he had done. The forward swiftly deleted the post and replied to the top comment saying sorry and explaining that he did not know the history.
Tel will be high on confidence after international exploits
Spurs fans will certainly forgive Tel for what appears to have been an innocent mistake and they will be a lot more concerned with what the forward produces on the pitch.
There is some good news on that front as the teenager will be high on confidence after impressing during the international break.
Tel scored twice for France Under-21s in their win over Slovakia earlier this week, and he will hope to bring that form to N17 and get off the mark in the Premier League soon.
