Tottenham urged to make important Mikey Moore transfer decision this summer
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has made an interesting suggestion regarding what the Lilywhites should do with Mikey Moore after the winger fell down Ange Postecoglou’s pecking order.
Moore is seen by many at Hotspur Way as a potential generational talent and the teenager showed exactly why there is so much hype around him when he got first-team opportunities earlier this season during Tottenham’s injury crisis.
However, now that some key players have returned from injuries and Mathys Tel has joined the club, the winger is finding game time hard to come by.
Some pundits have implored Postecoglou to hand more minutes to Moore, and Robinson agrees that the 17-year-old should be playing regularly.
Paul Robinson believes Mikey Moore would ‘relish’ Tottenham loan opportunity
While a number of Tottenham’s youngsters are thriving on loan in the EFL, Postecoglou has chosen to keep Moore at Hotspur Way, with the winger continuing to train with the first-team Spurs squad.
Even though the Spurs academy graduate will only turn 18 in August, Robinson believes that the North London club should send the winger out on loan this summer, with the pundit believing that the youngster will relish the chance to prove himself in senior football.
Speaking about Moore, the former England number one told Tottenham News: “There’s an option [to go on loan] for him. How much is he going to be used next year? What type of development is the player going to have? And is it going to hamper his development by not playing every week? Or is the player going to be better sent out on loan, being a part of a first-team squad, playing every week?
“There are different characters. He strikes me as the type of character who would absolutely relish going out on loan, being the main man somewhere, scoring the goals, and coming back after a season on loan.
“For me, looking at him, if he’s not going to be part of the first team next year on a regular basis, he’ll be in the squad, but actually 10 minutes off the bench here and there, hopefully maybe some European football, is not going to be enough for him. I think going out on loan will be better.”
Mikey Moore impresses for England Under-19s
While the winger’s opportunities for Tottenham may have dried up, he continues to impress in every chance he gets.
Moore registered back-to-back goal contributions for England U19 during the international break as the Young Lions beat Wales and Portugal to book a place in Under-19 Euros this August.
