NFL Draft Rumors: ‘Worst-Kept Secret’ Great News For Patriots
The New England Patriots will keep a keen eye on the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft as analysts try to decipher New York’s plan.
After reportedly signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, it seemed like the NFC East side wouldn’t consider a quarterback with the third overall pick. However, Giants insiders suggested that a signal-caller wasn’t off the table with the veterans potentially serving as mentors for a future franchise QB.
The Tennessee Titans are expected to select Cam Ward with the first overall pick, which would leave Shedeur Sanders on the table. The Cleveland Browns are expected to select Abdul Carter at No. 2, but it’s unknown what New York thinks about Sanders. But an NFL draft analyst offered insight on that Friday.
“I’m hearing quarterback, even after signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal,” Matt Miller wrote of the Giants’s draft plans. “A scout told me, ‘New York loving Shedeur is the worst-kept secret in the league right now.’ According to that scout, the Giants had a presence at every Colorado home game this season.”
The Patriots should hope that the Giants convince themselves to draft Sanders at No. 3 because that would give them an opportunity to draft the quarterback’s former Buffaloes teammate Travis Hunter.
Colorado holds its pro day next week, and it will be a big opportunity for Sanders to impress teams and potentially boost his draft stock. It would be the most ideal scenario for New England if he does.
