Silver Hill community to get counselling
Counselling is being offered to the family as well as members of the community in Silver Hill, Christ Church, who witnessed the shooting incident which claimed the life of 13-year-old Shawnathon Chase on Tuesday night.
Minister of People Empowerment, Elder Affairs and Crime Prevention Kirk Humphrey said in conversations with residents, they did not realise how deeply they were affected by the fatal shooting.
“When you speak to so many persons who would have seen the incident, or who know him, you can tell that this has been a traumatic event. So we’re going to offer even a greater level of comfort through counselling to the residents and to the family. And, you know, my heart grieves for the entire family and for the community,” he said.
“I think over the course of the next few days, we will allow the community to grieve as much as we can, but it is our intention to spend time here and in other communities, working on programming, working with the families, making ourselves available and so on.”
