Man ‘spotted on roof’ of New Zealand embassy in central London
A major emergency response was underway in central London this morning after a man was spotted on the roof of the New Zealand embassy.
The man was reportedly first seen at height on top of New Zealand House on CCTV, near Trafalgar Square, shortly after 3.30am.
Emergency services were called to the scene as the man was seen moving across the roof of the embassy building by security staff.
Sources have told Metro officers the individual has not yet been found.
Emergency services set up a cordon around the area and the Metropolitan Police have sent specialist rope-trained officers.
The London Fire Brigade earlier brought an aerial ladder platform to assist in accessing the roof safely.
The LFB have now told Metro they are no longer at the scene, and added the incident is being dealt with by police.
Witnesses said there was a heavy emergency services presence, with officers managing the situation.
Road closures were in place on Haymarket and Pall Mall earlier this morning but according to the AA, they are no longer closed off.
Closures however are in place along The Mall this morning.
The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted by Metro for comment.
