Hogs Finish Road Stretch in Gainesville, Head Home to Face No. 8 Auburn
FAYETEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (4-12, 1-8) heads on the road to face No. 31 Florida (7-8, 3-6) on Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m. CT ahead of a return to Billingsley Tennis Center for a match versus No. 8 Auburn (17-4, 6-3) at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 30.
The Razorbacks dropped their two SEC road matches this past weekend, falling to No. 1 Georgia and No. 21 South Carolina. In the first match against the Bulldogs, Grace O’Donnell earned her fifth win this spring with a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (8) win over Sofia Rojas at the No. 5 position. Jimena Gomez secured her second dual win of the season after a straight set win over Mai Nirundom.
In Arkansas’ match versus the Gamecocks, the duo of Olga Bienzobas and Carolina Gomez collected their eighth victory this season after a 6-3 win over No. 26 Kaitlyn Carnicella and Sarah Hamner. Anet Koskel leads the Hogs with seven dual victories so far this spring.
No. 31 Florida is 7-8 overall and 3-6 in SEC play this year after a 5-2 loss to No. 16 Vanderbilt last Sunday. The Gators are led by No. 39 Rachel Gailis and No. 91 Alicia Dudeney, who have played on courts one and two this spring and have combined to win 16 dual singles matches this season. In doubles, the tandem of No. 6 Dudeney and Bente Spee have recorded seven wins this spring.
No. 8 Auburn is coming off a 2-0 weekend at home with victories over No. 16 Vanderbilt and Missouri. The Tigers are 17-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play this season. Auburn is headlined by No. 4 DJ Bennett in the top spot and No. 62 Angella Okutoyi on court two. The Tigers are led in singles wins by Okutoyi, who has 15 dual victories this year. The duo of Bennett and Ava Hrastar are ranked No. 16 in the ITA doubles rankings and hold a 7-6 record together this spring.
