Heavy rainfall threat starting tomorrow and continuing through Saturday
(KLFY) -- Clouds will be increasing for today with showers showing up this morning across the upper-Texas coast. This activity will begin to work into the area later this afternoon, so I've increased rain chances to 30%.
Starting tomorrow, atmospheric lift will increase and deeper moisture will work into the atmosphere. By tomorrow afternoon, thunderstorms will begin to develop across Acadiana, working from southwest-to-northeast. Friday night and into Saturday we could see 'training' thunderstorms, which means storms will develop and re-develop, moving over some of the same areas continuously. This could lead to the possibility of flash flooding.
Models currently show anywhere from 2-4 inches of rainfall covering the Friday night through Saturday timeframe, but isolated higher amounts will be possible in isolated areas. It's in these isolated areas that flash flooding will be possible.
The rainfall should end by Saturday night and we will clear out on Sunday. With sunshine, temperatures will warm back into the low-mid 80s.
A frontal boundary will move through the area on Monday, giving us another chance of storms. Following this front, slightly cooler air will be possible next Tuesday, especially during the morning hours.
