Greenfield man pleads guilty to felony drug possession
SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Greenfield man pleaded guilty in two separate cases of felony drug possession in Saratoga County Court on Wednesday. The county DA's office said Jason Allen, 45, was arrested for drug possession last August and October.
In August, deputies arrested Allen for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after finding him and another person sleeping in a car outside of a Providence home. Deputies said they were performing a warrant check on the house and found 500 milligrams or more of cocaine in the vehicle Allen was sleeping in.
Allen was arrested again in October at the Wilton 7-Eleven and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. At the time of his arrest, deputies said Allen had an active arrest warrant and a variety of stimulants and narcotics.
The sentence for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance is one to nine years in prison and a fine of up to $30,000, while the sentence for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance carries a possible sentence between one and 5 1/2 years in jail and a fine of up to $15,000. Allen returns to court for sentencing on May 21 at 11 a.m.
