How Alex Bregman Views Red Sox’s ‘Big Three’ Prospects After Spring Training
Spring training is officially over, and Opening Day is one sleep away.
The Boston Red Sox will begin their season in Texas with a four-game series with the Rangers at Globe Life Field starting Thursday.
Garrett Crochet will take the hill for the revamped roster, which includes an improved infield featuring Alex Bregman.
Bregman had a front-row seat to elite Red Sox prospects Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony throughout spring training. The two-time World Series champion said he’s been impressed with the trio from the first day he watched them play.
“They really have (impressed since Day 1),” Bregman told NESN’s Tom Caronn during Tuesday’s exhibition game in Mexico. “They’ve been awesome. They’ve played exceptionally well here as well.”
Campbell is the only one of the three to make the Opening Day roster, but Bregman has no doubt that Mayer and Anthony will help the club out at some point during the season.
“Just getting to watch them on a daily basis, they’re all studs,” Bregman said. “All three of them will help us at some point this year, and hopefully, that’s win a lot of games.”
