Man Utd want to sign £11m Genk wonderkid after stunning goal in Nations League
Manchester United are interested in signing one of Genk’s emerging talents this summer.
The Red Devils have signed plenty of teenagers over the past year, and the policy is likely to continue in the near future.
Tuttomercatoweb (TMW) claim that United are one of the clubs on the trail of Greek wonderkid Konstantinos Karetsas.
The 17-year-old graduated through the youth ranks at Genk in Belgium but represents Greece at the international level.
He made the headlines against Scotland in the Nations League on Sunday with a stunning curling strike in a 3-0 win.
United are keen on landing his services but face competition from the likes of Liverpool and Napoli, as per TMW.
Red Devils must sign Karetsas ahead of competition
Karetsas is an attacking midfielder by trade. He has registered two goals and four assists from 30 outings in his breakthrough campaign at Genk.
The teenager has a slight preference for the left wing. He has caught the eye with his knack for attempting shots from outside the box.
The 17-year-old has yet to find consistency but has impressed with his quality long balls and ability to create big chances for his teammates.
Karetsas does not turn 18 until November this year, and United won’t be able to register him this summer due to Brexit rules on underage foreign players.
However, the club must convince the youngster to choose them over Napoli, who don’t have such restrictions and can add him to the squad in July.
The Naples outfit are said to be following his progress with particular interest.
Karetsas is already valued at £11 million by Transfermarkt. The Red Devils must negotiate an advanced transfer deal for the 2026 winter transfer window.
