Broker fee for Upper West Side apartment is $9,205: 'No negotiating'
UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- An Upper West Side apartment listing is asking for 35% of one year’s rent from applicants interested in living there.
The broker fee comes out to $9,205, according to the StreetEasy listing.
A description of the apartment on StreetEasy reads:
"Rent Stabilized once in a year opportunity! 40% below market rent! Gut-renovated unit, doorman/elevator building. Broker fee is 35% of one year’s rent ($9,205). No negotiating! We will have a lot of interest; best application will get the apartment. Good luck!"
Nathan Joseph & Associates Inc. is handling the listing, according to the listing on StreetEasy's website.
The new Fairness in Apartment Rental Expenses (FARE) Act, which prohibits brokers representing landlords from charging broker fees to tenants, will not go into effect until June 11, 2025.
PIX11 News reached out to Nathan Joseph & Associates Inc. and SreetEasy for comment, but; they were not immediately available.
The apartment was removed from the rental market on Monday.
