Cheektowaga man charged with attempted murder following shots fired call in Amherst
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Cheektowaga man has been charged with attempted murder along with a slew of other charges following a shots fired report in Amherst Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to the Amherst Police Department, Shayne Ganoe, 33, was involved in a shots fired in the area of Hopkins Road and Randwood Drive. Police said he knew the victims.
The area was shut down by police for a couple of hours beginning around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses reported that a white pickup truck and grey SUV were possibly involved in the incident that occurred down the road from Williamsville North High School.
Amherst police say the incident was not random and no one was injured.
Ganoe was arraigned on the following charges:
- second-degree attempted murder
- second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- reckless endangerment
- second-degree criminal mischief
- criminal contempt
- second-degree menacing
He was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.
