Cambridge CSD appoints new superintendent
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Cambridge Central School District has selected its next superintendent of schools. James Ducharme, soon to be Schuylerville's former high school principal, will begin his new role on July 1.
Ducharme served as Schuylerville's acting superintendent in 2024, highlighting his ability to manage district initiatives. He also served as chief emergency officer, sat on district committees, and oversaw the transition to hybrid learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ducharme began his decade-long career at Schuylerville Central School District in 2015 as the middle and high school assistant principal before being promoted to high school principal, a position he served for over seven years. He has worked in education for over 21 years and achieved a graduation rate of over 90% for seven straight years in Schuylerville.
Cambridge CSD offered Ducharme a three-year contract. Cambridge Board of Education President Shay Price said the board is excited to welcome Ducharme to the district.
"Mr. Ducharme brings an impressive blend of qualifications, experience and perspective that we believe make him a great fit for the district and community," Price said. "We look forward to partnering with Mr. Ducharme and welcoming his leadership to our team."
