Glens Falls to hold 'City of Champions' parade
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On March 30, the Glens Falls City School District will celebrate several local sports teams with the "City of Champions" parade. The parade will honor Adirondack United Girls Hockey, Glens Falls Boys Basketball, and student Forrest Slingerland for this year's state championship wins.
The celebration is for the high school boys' basketball team, which last weekend achieved its second consecutive unbeaten, state championship-winning season. Additionally, the Adirondack United Girls Hockey was the state champion of their division this year, and Glens Falls student Forrest Slingerland won the Nordic Ski State Championship.
At 2:30 p.m., the parade departs from Glens Falls High School on Quade Street, turns east on Sherman Avenue, and right on to Glen Street. From there, participants will march to and around Centennial Circle, turn onto Ridge Street, turn left onto Maple Street, and stop at the gazebo behind Crandall Library for a ceremony.
Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outside under the gazebo. If the weather doesn't cooperate, it will be moved indoors to the Cool Insuring Arena or the Queensbury Hotel.
