Patriots Receive Crucial Information At Will Campbell’s Pro Day
Will Campbell might be viewed as an offensive tackle again. Or maybe not.
Campbell, considered the best offensive lineman in the 2025 NFL Draft, reportedly measured 33-inch arms with a 77 2/8-inch wingspan at LSU’s Pro Day on Wednesday. The top prospect previously had measurements of 32 5/8-inch arms and a 77 3/8-inch wingspan at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.
At the time, Campbell’s failure to exceed 33-inch arms caused many to question if he would be better suited to play guard rather than tackle. A tackle-needy team like the New England Patriots might have been led to feel a certain way given the league’s unofficial threshold.
Perhaps the Patriots, who own the fourth overall pick, reconsider after the noteworthy arm-length development. Or perhaps they don’t since Campbell’s wingspan actually measured 1/8 inch less. Or perhaps they won’t concern themselves over eighths of an inch due to Campbell’s production against SEC competition.

Some might point to Campbell’s improved measurement Wednesday as a case of home-field advantage. However, multiple draft experts dumped cold water on such controversy.
According to NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline, Campbell is not the only offensive lineman who measured better at his Pro Day. Boston College’s Ozzy Trapilo and Drew Kendall, among others, also gained at least half an inch with their Pro Day arm-length measurements. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler also stressed it’s not “home-cooking” since NFL scouts conduct the measurements at Pro Days, much like the NFL scouting combine. It’s why the inconsistencies are “curious” to teams, Brugler said.
“The overall feeling is the measurements in Indianapolis were shorter than they should’ve been,” Pauline wrote before LSU’s Pro Day.
Campbell reportedly visited with the Patriots, who have a major need at left tackle. It’s their biggest void, especially after the reported addition of Stefon Diggs.
Campbell figures to be in the mix for New England’s first-round pick, along with Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou.
