MLB Analyst Makes Huge Prediction For Red Sox’s Kristian Campbell
Keith Law believes Kristian Campbell’s first season with the Red Sox will be a very successful one.
The Campbell era in Boston is upon us, as the 22-year-old on Sunday found out he made the Red Sox’s Opening Day roster. The 2023 fourth-round pick is set to begin his big league journey Thursday when he starts at second base for Boston’s season-opening showdown with the Rangers in Texas.
As Campbell’s up-and-down spring training suggested the Georgia Tech product will encounter some growing pains over the course of his debut campaign. Nonetheless, Law believes Campbell ultimately will be named the American League’s Rookie of the Year this season.
“Campbell won the second base job in the waning days of spring training, and he’s likely to get a long runway even if he starts slow, giving him a big leg up on the competition for this honor,” Law wrote in a predictions column for The Athletic.
The Tennessee native taking home that hardware would be incredibly meaningful to the Red Sox organization. Not only would it validate the club’s investment in Campbell, but it also would yield Boston an additional draft pick via the Prospect Promotion Incentive.
So, for a variety of reasons, Red Sox fans should be pulling for Campbell to storm out of the gate in Year 1.
