DARTS WOMEN WIN 2-1 TO BATTLE PAST SUTTON UTD!
Match Report: Sutton Utd Women FC 1-2 Dartford FC
London and South East Regional Premier League, played on Sunday 23rd March 2025.
Team: Jade Charlton, Georgie Davis, Chana Hinds, Lizzie Adams, Shauni Griffiths, Amy Russ, Brionne Fowle, Beth Powell, Emily Woodhouse, Ellie Dolby, Amina Hanif.
Subs: Xayla-Rae Alberts, Gabby Howell, Emily Vaughan, Sarah Hill, Paris Smith.
Following last weekend’s win over Ashford Utd, Darts were back on the road as we headed to Chipstead FC to take on Sutton Utd Women.
Darts began the game the better of the two sides and created the first chance of the game midway through the first half. In the 17th minute, a great through ball from Ellie Dolby put
Shauni Griffiths through on goal. The shot on goal was cleared off the line by a Sutton Utd defender.
Darts went close again to opening the scoring 10 minutes before the break. In the 35th minute, a fine volley on the half turn from Darts forward, Amy Russ, forced a fine save from Sutton keeper, Marni Humphries.
Darts began the second half on the front foot and went close to the opener 3 minutes after the restart. In the 48th minute, an effort on goal from Lizzie Adams was cleared off the line by a Sutton defender.
However, we found ourselves behind in the 57th minute as the home side went ahead. Sutton forward Milly Cutler broke the offside trap and fired home for the hosts to put them ahead.
Darts reacted well to going behind and we were back level 7 minutes later. In the 64th minute, a shot from Lizzie Adams was parried by Sutton keeper, Marni Humphries. Darts forward, Amina Hanif reached quickest of all to bring us level and score her first goal for the Darts.
The visitors continued to pressure the Sutton defence and the persistence paid off midway through the second half. In the 67th minute, a free kick from Shauni Griffiths found Emily Vaughan at the back post. The Darts forward rose above everyone in the box to head home to put us ahead.
We went close to getting our third goal of the afternoon 17 minutes from time. In the 73rd minute, a shot from the edge of the box from Amina Hanif just had too much on it and went over the Sutton crossbar.
