Moment Sky News presenter is accidentally caught watching MAFS Australia live on air during budget coverage
SKY News presenter Sharri Markson has been left red-faced after she and her colleagues were caught watching Married At First Sight Australia while on air.
Sharri and her work mates at Sky News Australia were providing up to the minute coverage of the country’s 2025-2026 Federal Budget when the mishap happened.
In a behind the scenes photo taken in the Canberra studio, Sharri posed for a picture while MAFS Australia couple Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou had a heated row behind her.
The newlyweds were unwittingly featured on a huge TV screen as the budget got underway Down Under.
Seemingly unaware, Sharri – who was dressed in a smart bright red jacket and matching skirt – smiled at the camera with one hand on her hip.
Posting the shot to Instagram, she said: “Out of lock-up and onto Sky News for budget analysis in Canberra!”
Commenting on X, one bemused MAFS fan said: “Sky News staff busted watching Married At First Sight during their Federal Budget coverage… do you blame them? The Budget is boring…!”
This year’s series of Married At First Sight Australia is also currently airing in the UK.
However, our episodes are running several weeks behind the series Down Under.
In the latest instalment here, the drama reached fever pitch as one furious groom appeared to quit the experiment.
In a trailer for tonight’s episode (Wednesday), Adrian’s wife Awhina was seen begging her husband to come home.
In a desperate phone call, she asked him to come back to their apartment.
But he sternly replied: “Absolutely not.”
Adrian’s bags were seen packed and his wedding ring was left on the counter, signalling he wanted to leave MAFS for good.
Elsewhere, Jacqui and Ryan were embroiled in another tearful row last night –this time at another MAFS couple’s wedding.
The pair came to blows at the ceremony of new couple Beth and Teejay, with Jacqui causing a huge scene.
She wailed and cried at her husband Ryan as the guests – and their MAFS co-stars – all looked on in shock.
The reason for her meltdown was because Jacqui felt Teejay’s vows to new wife Beth were better than the vows Ryan had made to her.
Yet in a strange turn of events that fans claim prove she is a “fake”, Jacqui suddenly turned off the water works.
MAFS Australia viewers blasted the show, complaining: “Ryan & Jacqui are a joke couple right?
“There for entertainment value? Has to be. No way is this a real relationship.”
- MAFS Australia continues tonight at 7.30pm on E4
